Research and Impact: Professor Michael Flood

QUT Centre for Justice member, Professor Michael Flood, has provide recent media commentary in relation to his research on gender, sexuality, and interpersonal violence.

Following the release of the recent Netflix series, “Adolescence”, Professor Flood provided commentary in the article, “With its spotlight on the ‘manosphere’. Adolescence begs the question:  how do we raise good men?

Professor Flood appears in the new documentary Skin in the Game, exploring rugby league, gender, and violence. The documentary was first broadcast on NITV, SBS, and SBS On Demand on March 23.

Dr Flood’s research at present is focused in particular on interpersonal violence and its prevention, particularly with reference to men and masculinities. Dr Flood has published widely on topics including violence against women and violence prevention, men and masculinities, profeminist men’s advocacy, male heterosexuality, fathering, and pornography. He has made a significant contribution to scholarly and community understanding of men’s and boys’ involvements in preventing violence against women and building gender equality. Dr Flood has published 40 journal articles, 27 book chapters, two edited collections, 35 research monographs, and over 80 other publications. He is the author of Engaging Men and Boys in Violence Prevention (2018) and the lead editor of Engaging Men in Building Gender Equality (2015) and The International Encyclopedia of Men and Masculinities (2007). His research has attracted $1.8 million of external funding.
