Title: Harnessing Technology for Safer Workplaces: Real-Time Tracking of Occupational Violence

 Chief Investigators:

 Project Summary

This research utilises a smartphone app to track occupational violence in healthcare settings in real time using Ecological Momentary Assessments. By collecting data on the type, location, and frequency of incidents as they happen, the app addresses the limitations of traditional self-reporting methods, providing more accurate and timely information. The aim of the study is to gain a better understanding of the patterns and contributing factors of violence to enhance safety for healthcare workers. The findings will contribute to research, support healthcare improvement, and enable comparison across different institutions, ultimately leading to increased efficiency and reduced healthcare costs.

The team was awarded $47,273 to develop a mobile application to collect real-time data on occupational violence exposure at the RBWH. The two-year project will commence in June 2025.
