Gender, Power, Violence: Creating a better normal

Associate Professor Michael Flood spoke at an event in Parliament House titled “Gender, Power, Violence: Creating a better normal”.   In the wake of the scandals regarding alleged incidents of sexual assault and harassment in Parliament House, and wider attention to domestic and sexual violence, the Parliamentary Friends of Social Sciences group hosted the event at Parliament House in Canberra on March 23 2021.

The event was organised by Members of Parliament Andrew Leigh, Dave Sharma, and Adam Bandt. It featured a panel comprising Professor Pauline Grosjean, Associate Professor Michael Flood, and Professor JaneMaree Maher, and hosted by Michelle Grattan.

Associate Professor Michael Flood’s remarks to the panel can be found here. Andrew Leigh then spoke about these issues in the House of Representatives on March 24, and his remarks can be found here.
