The Domestic and Family Violence Death Review Unit from the State Coroner’s office handed over its annual report to Parliament last week which highlighted the chilling reality of family violence in Queensland. The three-person unit examined eight years of murders and murder-suicides across the state and found almost half of all homicides had domestic violence links. 

QUT’s Associate Professor Molly Dragiewicz commented on the report suggesting that whilst the findings are not surprising, the information will be highly influential for future preventative strategies introduced by governments and other organisations towards the issue.
