Report and Event: Making Noise and Getting Things Done – Youth Inclusion and Advocacy for Peace

To coincide with the High-Level Global Conference on Youth Inclusive Peace Processes, the QUT Centre for Justice hosted an event to present key insights from the report Making Noise and Getting Things Done: Youth Inclusion and Advocacy for Peace.

This report extends the evidence base on youth-led peace processes, and peace advocacy more broadly in Afghanistan, South Sudan and Myanmar. Drawing on stories of young people’s peace work and their proposals for substantive engagement, the report offers practical recommendations for how national, regional and international stakeholders can support and amplify the fundamental and vital peace work youth are leading in their communities.

A video recording of the event can be found here.

A thread of live tweeting, which includes some of the highlights of the event, can also be found here.

Presenters at the event were:

Youth Researchers: Savannah Spalding, Casey Odgers-Jewell, and Hayley Payne
Youth Peacebuilders from Afghanistan, South Sudan and Myanmar
Opening Remarks: Saji Prelis
Moderators: Drs. Helen Berents and Caitlin Mollica

This well-attended event created a space where youth researchers could share their work, and share the space with some of the youth peacebuilders from Afghanistan and South Sudan who participated in the research.
