QUT’s School of Justice in the Faculty of Law is currently advertising an on-going Professor position, with applications closing on 11 December 2016.
About the position: The position will contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching. Individuals with a research focus complementary to research strengths of the discipline and the School are strongly encouraged to apply. It is expected that the successful applicant will have and maintain a reputation for excellence in research and have demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision. The successful applicant will provide leadership in service to the University and engagement with industry.
About the School of Justice: This year the School of Justice celebrates its 25th Anniversary. The School has experienced substantial growth over the last five years and now has an EFTSL base of almost 1000. The undergraduate degree in B. Justice attracts the largest number of first preferences of quality students in the state. Seven out of ten students with an OP between 10 and 1 give their first preference to the B. Justice, QUT. Additionally, the School has developed two new successful Graduate Certificates in Domestic Violence, and Governance and Policy which have surpassed all expectations. A key to the School’s success is that it is guided by an external advisory board, chaired by the State Coroner. It has established strong and enduring relationships across the Justice Sector.
In 2012, the School established a thriving Crime and Justice Research Centre, and also the International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy, now included in prestigious databases of Scopus and Web of Science. The Journal has been downloaded around 200,000 times, three-quarters from overseas. The School has also established a biennial International Conference for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy, and a biennial School of Justice Breakfast, attended by the elite of the justice profession.
