On Monday 22nd of August, Crime and Justice Research Centre member Dr Monique Mann attended the Garran Strategy Series at the Attorney-General’s Department in Canberra.

The Garran Strategy Series is a series of high level discussions, sponsored by the Secretary of the Attorney-General’s Department, that facilitates forward thinking and strategic planning on issues relevant to the Attorney-General’s Portfolio.

The Series explores long-term policy challenges with a view to developing or adjusting near-term policy responses. It promotes and enhances collaboration within the Portfolio and across government, enables integrated policy development on complex or cross-cutting matters and develops effective responses to future risks.

The topic under discussion was ‘A shared vision: Better information sharing to fight crime in 2030.’ Delegates included representatives of Commonwealth departments and agencies, and other relevant stakeholder groups.

Dr Mann said that it was ‘rewarding to have the opportunity to engage directly with senior policy makers in this complex area.’
