MPhil Funded Scholarship Opportunity – Improving the policing of gender violence

We are looking for a MPhil student who resides in Vanuatu to apply for a funded scholarship to undertake research with the team.

This research project investigates how to improve the policing of gender violence in the complex cultural and practical contexts of the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. It aims to identify local innovations and explore whether/how they might be scalable across Pacific Island Communities. This project adopts a mixed methods approach that will involve semi-structured interviews and follow up research with women police, and relevant civil society partners. The mixed methods data will then be synthesised into archetypal case studies of innovation in the policing of gender violence, that are scalable to other contexts. A Qualtrics survey will gauge the prospect for transferring innovations across Pacific Island Countries (PICs), and like contexts such as Pacific Islander communities in Australia. Expected outcomes include new evidence of better ways to police gender violence, reform laws and transformation of policing practices that sustain gender violence.

MPhil Project: We are looking for MPhil proposals to undertake a complimentary piece of research that fits in with this larger project. Please submit a one-two page proposal with your expression of interest.
