A/Prof Angela Higginson has been funded as part of a collaborative research project with UQ to work on a 12 month project “Enhancing the Capability of the Global Policing Database (GPD)”. The $150,000 project explores the use of machine-learning approaches to populate the GPD, and is funded jointly by the Australian Institute of Criminology, New Zealand Police Evidence Base Policing Centre, Queensland Police Service, Victoria Police, and South Australia Police.
A/Professor Michael Flood was successful in gaining an ARC Discovery Grant on “Anti-women online movements: Pathways and patterns of participation”. The grant will be led by colleagues at Deakin University, and will explore the influences shaping men’s attraction to anti-women online movements and patterns of participation within them.
Dr Michael Flood’s journal article, titled “Intersectionality and social justice in programs for boys and men” and co-authored with Amanda Keddie and Shelley Hewson-Munro, was published in NORMA: International Journal for Masculinity Studies. Dr Flood’s journal article, titled “Digital Dating Abuse Perpetration and Impact: The Importance of Gender” and co-authored with Cynthia Brown and Kelsey Hegarty, was published in the Journal of Youth Studies.
Dr Flood gave an invited presentation to the Pornography Inquiry of the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Commercial Sexual Exploitation, on January 18.
