ABC’s Fact Check today featured Professor Kerry Carrington’s analysis of crime statistics. ABC found that Newman’s claims of sharp drops in crime in Queensland are exaggerated. Carrington noted that “Queensland desperately needs an independent crime statistics unit to prevent (data) from being misused, particularly during election campaigns. This is an abominable misuse of crime data.”
