Belinda Carpenter received an Australian Research Council Discovery grant in an extremely competitive field with colleagues Gordon Tait, Diego De Leo, and Colin Tatz. The study will investigate how statistical calculations of suicide are dependent upon coronial determination.
Kerry Carrington received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Criminology Division on Critical Criminology due to her sustained contribution to the field. She also published Feminism and Global Justice with Routledge. She also edited a Special Edition of Critical Criminology on Rural Criminology.
Cassandra Cross received an Early Career Academic Recruitment and Development /Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fund Travel Fellowship for a research trip to Hong Kong. She has a contract from Routledge to co-author a book on Victims of Cyberfraud.
Mark Lauchs was consistently sought out by media to offer insightful commentary on crime and justice issues, including the Queensland Government’s Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act laws, security at the G20, and the Senate inquiry into the State Government.
Kelly Richards received a QUT Vice Chancellor’s Performance Award for Excellence in Research in recognition of her stellar research performance.
Sharon Hayes published Sex, Love and Abuse, Palgrave Macmillan which received widespread publicity and will shortly publish Criminal Justice Ethics.
Matthew Ball and Angela Dwyer edited a Special Edition of Critical Criminology, on Queer Criminology and convened a successful one day seminar on the topic.
Molly Dragiewicz edited a collection on Global Human Trafficking, and co-edited Critical Criminology. with Walter DeKeseredy
John Scott joined the School of Justice in 2014, and published two books, Male Sex Work, and Crime and Society
