Looking sharp and planning smart to support the nonprofit sector

ACPNS was delighted to speak to Andrew Leigh about all things giving and philanthropy in a recent meeting at QUT.

Andrew Leigh is the Shadow Assistant Minister for Treasury and Charities and the Federal Member for Fenner in the ACT. Prior to his election Andrew was a professor of economics at the Australian National University. Andrew is a past recipient of the Economic Society of Australia’s Young Economist Award, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and has written numerous books. He holds a PhD from Harvard in Public Policy and graduated with first class honours in Arts and Law from the university of Sydney.

Andrew was interested in learning about the research conducted at ACPNS, including how government can support the nonprofit, social enterprise and philanthropy sector, the types of research needed to create knowledge impact across the sector, and the latest on fundraising regulation.

Andrew chatted with Linda Lavarch, the former member of Qld Parliament and former QUT Councillor, Associate Professor Wendy Scaife, Glenn Poole, Professor Kerrie Sadiq and Emeritus Professor Myles McGregor-Lowndes.

You can listen tune in to some of the conversation here.

Thank you to Andrew and his team for making themselves available for this important visit.
