Australian Pandemic History
This blog provides a general historic overview of the epidemics/pandemics which have occurred in Australia.
Definitions:
Epidemic – is a disease that affects a large number of people within a community, population, or region.
Pandemic – is an epidemic which has spread across multiple countries or continents.
Endemic – something which belongs to a particular ‘people’ or country.
Outbreak – a greater than anticipated measure in the number of endemic cases. It can also be a single case in a new area. If it is not quickly controlled, an outbreak can become an epidemic.

| 1867 | Measles epidemic in Sydney city + inner suburbs; 748 deaths (February-June) |
