During Semester 2 of 2022, I decided to enrol on an exchange program through the university to visit Texas A&M in the United States. This became one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I would recommend anyone to give it a go and you’ll have the best time of your life.
Being a huge fan of American Football it was a no brainer to choose this host university as they have a very good football program, one of the biggest stadiums in the world and one the best fanbases. It was everything I thought it was going to be and better, the people there were always so supportive and into the games, the tailgating was almost as fun as the games and the whole experience was electric. Buying a sports pass is a must for anyone doing an exchange at Texas A&M as it enhances your experience a ton.
I lived off-campus in an apartment block for my stay and that is what I recommend for anyone, I found you got more space and if you put yourself out there you will have no trouble at all meeting new people, plus it comes with benefits such as being less strict, pools and hot tubs.
During my stay I also decided to join a men’s organization, which is kind of like a fraternity. That was honestly the best decision I made during my time, I got to spend a semester partying and met so many new people and brothers for life at the start of my exchange. They look after you, throw events and give you people to hang out with and who have your back, bringing the feeling of home to you.
Overall, my experience was amazing and once in a lifetime, I would recommend anyone with the ability to do the exchange program within QUT to do it and they won’t regret it.
