Age: Into my third decade but who’s counting?
Course: Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
Year of progress in course: Not sure but only a few subjects left!
Dream job: Contributing to a fairer world where the law is respected and upheld.
What’s the one thing that sets you apart from other students? Possibly the number of spare biro’s I bring to exams?
Which TV character best matches your personality: Hmmmm….I really don’t know!
Your favourite three books: To Kill a Mockingbird, Go Set A Watchman, I can’t choose just ONE more! I love my books!
Your favourite three movies: Hmmmm……pass again?
Describe your music tastes: Ever expanding as my enthusiasm for the ‘old’ wanes at disproportionate speed to my enthusiasm for the ‘new’. Mostly popular plus some classical. Kylie, Gaga, Pink, Bach – what’s not to love?!
What do you do in your free time: Read. Cook. Bake. Walk my dog. Garden. Marvel at sunsets and the fragility of each individual jacaranda flower…
You can invite five people (dead, alive or fictional) to dinner – who would they be: 1. Kevin McCleod of Grand Designs fame (Buildings are about people, function, beauty and respect for their surroundings. I’m paraphrasing but his wit and presence almost equal his depth of perspective about shelter, sustainability and their broader societal role) 2. Maria Sharapova (a generous dose of talent and a lifetime of sacrifice make for a more complex being than headlines often suggest) 3. Geoffrey Robinson QC (where does one start for introductory purposes?) 4. Olivia Palermo (I try and try yet fail and fail to clash prints yet OP never looks like she got dressed in the dark?). 5. Michael Schumacher (despite my knowing nothing about cars his precision and dedication to bettering his performance in a field where the margins were only hundredths of a second captured my teenage attention and held it for a loooong time). 6. Atticus Finch – so much wisdom, humanity, objectivity and mastering of the legal argument craft….(if you’re inviting 5 people it’s always wise to have an extra in case someone can’t make it. A host’s gotta have a plan B after all!)
What makes you happy: A well structured exam answer in legible handwriting, referenced with relevant cases, paragraphs of balanced and considered argument with a clear and logical conclusion AND enough time spare to finish the sentence with a full stop. It’s my exam week holy grail and it eludes me.
If you could choose one super power – what would it be: To not be so indecisive when faced with such open ended questions and possibilities??
What is your favourite place on earth: Possibly a library?
What would be your last meal: Mum’s roast stuffed chicken with roast vegetables.
What do you want to be when you grow up: A lawyer, doing my bit to contribute to a more just world where the rule of law is respected and upheld.
If your mates could sum you up in three words – they would be: Not sure, I can’t read their minds!
What is your most treasured possession: My health and mobility. Without that, it’s really an uphill battle. Everyday.
