Sweet Potato and Spinach Gnocchi, accompanied by Ricotta and Garlic Hobz

Probably the best thing about winter for me, is the ability to use the kitchen without feeling exhausted. Since leaving my boring old job in retail, for the bigger world, I have the weekends to myself.

This weekend I had a four day weekend – how cool right? I had Friday to Monday off. Despite living it up in my own little party scene on Friday and Saturday, on Sunday and Monday I had the house to myself. So I woke up, turned on my iPod, and the day seemed almost set. I had Tracey Chapman playing in the background – by the way I love her lyrical ability to put time, place, and emotions into perspective –and I felt literally at home. You know you’re at home when you have a home cooked meal.

Today’s Whispers of Tomorrow’s Secrets

Friends forsaken, our hearts were breaking,
Lost in love, when love was lost,
Now separated, feeling isolated,
We have moved on, there is no mistaking.
A year has passed, these seconds pass so fast,
Yet months I hold, months transform to past,
We can reflect on time, to see time set in stone,
We look to the stars, sharing the same sky we face the unknown,
But time will tell tomorrow’s secrets,
For we live among today’s whispers,
When love is lost a lesson is learned,
When you play with fire, your bound to get burnt,
We lose these things to find new ground,
Now lost in life, what have you found.

I like it!

I have always loved the sounds of Enrique Iglesias from his hits Bailamos, The Ping Pong Song, to more new stuff such as Away featuring none other than Sean Garret.

I also love the musicality of hip-hop, pop, latino superstar Pitbull. I saw him in concert at ‘Supafest’ (formally Jamfest), and he was superbly entertaining.

I also love the old school beats, and rhythms, let alone the silky smooth sounds of music legend Lionel Ritchie….

All these sounds collided in a musical kaleidoscope in a new song, ‘I like it.’

I am a huge fan, and I’m sure you will be too.

Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQJPFfWoXns, and confess your addiction to this song as well!

When you really truly think about it, everyone has a story just as exciting or upsetting, important or as heartbreaking as yours.  Everyone has had a life changing moment in their lives, from the person who serves you at McDonalds or randomly sits next to you on the train.  So imagine when you leave school, and perhaps attend university, the truth is that you will become a part of a community with access to the widest cross section of people you will probably ever experience in your lives.

Procrastination competition – do you have what it takes to win?

Right. I hate this mofo.

You know the feeling. You have an exam in 24 hours and you can’t bring yourself to look over your textbook.

You have an assignment you should really do a draft for, but you waste time watching The OC instead.

You really should go out and hang out with your friends, but instead you spend 30 minutes showering your hair. Oh, and you’re late. Again.

You can’t do this alone.

You Can’t Do This Alone

Warning: This blog is different to what I usually write…raw honesty and vulnerability follows.

This semester has been bumpy for me. And thats putting it lightly. I’ve lost a fair bit of resilience. I’ve made some bad decisions. I’ve been irresponsible, not to mention selfish, with my approach to life, and all too often give up before I even begin.

I’ve had to adjust to a lot of things…moving out, taking responsibility for myself, and figuring out what the hell my place is in this world (I’ll still need to get back to you on that one >_>). I am now confident in my ability to look after myself, and know I can do this for the rest of my life. I can iron, clean, shop, cook, and make about 10-15 meals without the need for a recipe book. But my academics have taken a slide.
