QUT is an amazing university, with lots of students club to choose from. As a typical sports lover, I joined QUT running club at the beginning of this semester. I strongly recommend this fantastic club to you if you are a runner who wants to experience professional training. The training is usually four times a week in the Botanic Gardens, but recently it has moved to Kangaroo Point due to the reconstructions of the Garden. The club also provides additional training courses for QUT classic and Mud running QLD.
Find out more information on the QUT Running Facebook page.
However, intensive training provided by the organiser might not be suitable for everyone. On the other hand, the members of the club are basically from school. If you want to do running outside the QUT campus and make friends with more local runners, I recommend Brisbane Social Run Club.
Most of the members of this club are both living and working in Brisbane. Most of them are friendly, helpful locals, who are running for both social and competition. Joining the club, you will get the chance to run marathons in Brisbane or nearby such as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Besides, the club provides weekly breakfast and dinner social meetings at weekends.
Networking is crucial for those who want to both study and live a meaningful life. If you really want to get involved with the local community, running in groups will be one of the best choices.
