When I interviewed Charlotte Sangster for her PSMP scholarship application in 2015, what stood out was her total commitment to have impact, to make a difference in peoples’ lives. She also knew that there was a bigger role out there for her that would remain elusive without further studies.
One of the highlights of being part of an EMBA cohort is the people you meet. One of our 2018 Canberra graduates, Veena Bedekar, was nominated as Student Representative Speaker. She shares an extract of her graduate speech below.
My experience of Veena is that she is truly a “peoples person”. She is keen to help people arriving from other countries to “find their feet”, and to help them with their careers. Her exposure to art and creative people, gained from her role as a volunteer board director offers a refreshing balance with her legal work. Our 2017 Women on the Move event was held on August 1st with around 90 women from a range of business, government and university environments.
We tackled the complex theme of Emotional Resilience and Positive Leadership highlighting the dilemma of women leaders who may be seen as ’too bossy, too emotional or too nice!!
It is with great pleasure that I share this story with you. A story shared with me from one of our top performing students, Vanessa McCormack. Vanessa was awarded the Women in Leadership Excellence Scholarship in 2014 and has gone on to complete the Graduate Certificate in Business in 2017.
