QUT is delighted to provide placement opportunities across the University for the Queensland Government, Leader Connect program.
Leader Connect brokers experiences outside government to enable leaders to equip themselves with the agility and breadth of skills needed to best meet the needs of the people of Queensland.
Secondments can benefit employers as a means of developing good business relationships and sharing and enhancing employees’ skills. At the same time, they can offer employees a valuable career development opportunity, with the chance to make new contacts and gain experience within a different setting.
Secondments to QUT are flexible, ranging from days to months, and designed to meet the needs of the participant, their employer and, QUT as host organisation.
In 2018 a placement with the Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers, was offered for individuals with a passion and commitment to gaining an understanding of disruptive technologies and the impact they will have on our future economy. This provided the opportunity to work with Australia’s best researchers in applied mathematics, statistics and machine learning and with partner researchers on research programs that combine new and innovative data analysis methods with advanced mathematical and statistical modelling.
Mark Gordon, who at the time of his Leader Connect placement the Senior Enterprise Architect at the Queensland Government Chief Information Office, was the recipient of the placement opportunity.
