2019 QUT Leadership Coaching Conference: Crossing Boundaries

Conference dates: 22-23 November 2019 Brisbane | Australia

One thing is certain – today’s leaders face the reality of a ‘VUCA’ world of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. In times of rapid change, the temptation is to pull back.

Our inaugural Leadership Coaching Conference, with a theme of Crossing Boundaries will be held at QUT on 22-23rd November this year.

Conference update:
We are delighted to announce keynote speaker, Matthew Ames.

We are facing the fourth industrial revolution, characterised by a fusion of technologies blurring the lines of traditional leadership practice, with the underlying opportunities lying in advances in communication and connectivity.

Our conference explores how to step forward and engage with this change by navigating boundaries and generating creative tension through conversation, connection and collaboration.

It’s about asking questions, where you don’t have all the answers and embracing what is possible, as one of our keynote speakers, Matthew Ames, so aptly demonstrates every single day.

Matthew was just 39 years old when what started as a sore throat, resulted in the loss of all four of his limbs. Following a long rehabilitation process, Matthew now shows us all, including his 4 children, what is possible.

Across the 2 days of the conference, we will be showcasing approximately 8 keynote and featured speakers, who are experts in leadership and coaching, coming to us from international destinations such as the UK, Copenhagen, Canada and India, with of course some of our homegrown specialists as well.

Our first keynote speaker for our inaugural Leadership Coaching Conference is Michael Bungay Stainer.

Michael is the founder and CEO of BOX OF CRAYONS, a company that helps organisations do less good work and more great work. We are thrilled Michael will be joining us from Toronto, where he was the first Canadian Coach of the Year. He and his company work with busy leaders to build stronger teams and get better results.

In our fast moving world, Michael says that people are busy. They’re overcommitted, over-connected and overwhelmed. They’re working hard, sure  … but are they having the impact that they (and you) want them to have? What if people were able to work less hard, but have more impact? What if they were able to do more of the work that matters? What if they were able to do more Great Work? Inspiring and informative for Leaders and Coaches, come along to our conference to hear more!

Michael is a highly engaging speaker who will leave conference participants with new insights and energy, through his useful, provocative and highly interactive session where you will walk away with a plan to do something different right away.

Would you like to be more involved? The “Call for presentations” is now open.

On 22-23 November 2019, QUT is hosting a Leadership Coaching Conference: Crossing Boundaries.

This conference explores how to step forward and engage with change by navigating boundaries and generating creative tension through conversation, connection, and collaboration.

Boundaries can be in many forms – psychological, systemic, cultural, disciplinary, geographical, industry and so on. A ‘real world’ boundary of interest to QUT in hosting the conference is the research-practitioner divide. Another includes how great practices from the arts and sport can be incorporated into the business world.

Leadership coaching describes an adaptive leadership approach that challenges the rigidity of boundaries and is fuelled by curiosity and inquiry. It generates energy through great conversations within and between organisations. Leadership coaching embraces dialogue about meaning, purpose, and ethics. This is the space of our conference.

Please join us for the inaugural Leadership Coaching Conference: Crossing Boundaries. The Conference will both explore and model leadership coaching with highly interactive sessions embracing a range of themes – The mind and neuroscience; technological disruption, organizational systems, cultures and values, women in leadership, global and diverse perspectives and groups and teams, which act as boundaries to shape contributions, and in the spirit of the broader conference theme, we challenge you to cross them!
