QUT ExecInsights podcasts deliver insights for business success

Dr Kate Joyner interviews Domino’s CEO, Don Meij.

Great Business Schools have great podcast series, with Harvard Ideacast arguably being the most well-known. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, QUTeX started on its journey to podcast glory with QUT ExecInsights in December 2016, with me as inaugural host.

Convos are my favourite hobby, and the podcast gave me a wonderful excuse to contact all range of brilliant people who wouldn’t otherwise return my call. I knew that QUTeX had great people coming and going through our doors all year, including business and government leaders, prize-winning researchers and our own talented faculty. Enough talent for many different podcast series in fact, so we may soon branch out and franchise!

Supported by the versatile learning designer, Lance Scaife-Elliott, on sound recording and editing, we are now onto our seventeenth episode, presenting informal conversations which deliver insights for surviving and thriving in the 21stcentury. I have learned so much myself on themes including adaption in Australian retail, the digital economy, technological disruption in the legal industry, robotics and artificial intelligence as well as a wide range of leadership skill topics, such as coaching and negotiation.

One of my favourites was with our recently announced Distinguished Professor Patsy Yates on her work in oncology and end of life policy. Other guests include:

  • Don Meij, CEO, Domino’s Pizza
  • Professor Gary Mortimer
  • Professor Michael Milford, Chief Investigator at the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision at QUT
  • Marcus Foth, Professor of Urban Informatics in the QUT Design Lab

Lance has taught me how to monitor podcast metrics, and we have climbed the charts in the higher education category, with listeners from across the globe. More satisfying is when our students strike up a conversation with me on an episode they have listened to. Our episodes have also found their way into our learning resources for our E/MBA programs. All great returns on investment.

QUT ExecInsights can be found on iTunes and a range of other hosting platforms.
