Open Access Week

Open Access Week: October 22-28.

The theme for 2018 is “Designing equitable foundations for open knowledge”.

International Open Access Week is an opportunity to hear more about open access and engage with events that are happening at a QUT campus near you.

This year we are doing things a little differently. We are bringing this message directly to the researchers by taking our Open Access Bike on the road to faculties, institutes, across both campuses to meet with research staff and students and chat with them about the benefits of open access.

Researchers are invited to pop by to our open access pop-up trailer, find out more about open access, win some open access goodies, and make their own open access badges.

For academics who publish openly, the benefits include:

  • increased readership for open articles
  • increased academic usage through more citations.
  • depositing in an OA repository for free – such as QUT’s ePrints appears the best way to boost citations
  • open articles are better connected into global systems for sharing information, which means ultimately they can have wider societal impact.

See the flyer for events coming to a campus near you.
