Voting is now open for the 7th edition of GIF IT UP, an annual GIF-making competition for the most creative reuse of digitised cultural heritage material.
GIF IT UP is run by Europeana in cooperation with Digital Public Library of America, Digital NZ, Trove in Australia, and (as of 2020) Japan Search, and DAG Museums in Kolkata. All GIFs submitted to the competition are created using material from these sources.
If you’re in the mood for some digital whimsy, check out this year’s entries here. Search the list for ‘QUT’ and you’ll find a couple of excellent GIFs from QUT Library, using archival photographs (from Trove and QUT Digital Collections) by Robert Augustus Henry L’Estrange.
