A QUT research team is carrying out a research study* on Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) and Dementia in Australia, and is inviting individuals living with dementia and their carers to take part in a 30-minute interview.
The project team, led by Professors Ben White and Lindy Willmott, is inviting:
- people living with dementia and their unpaid carers to take part in a joint interview together; or
- unpaid carers who are looking after a person living with dementia who can no longer communicate or make informed decisions for themselves (or did so previously) to take part in an individual interview.
Unpaid carers include a person’s family members and other loved ones. The carer must either cohabit with the person living with dementia or see the person on average 4 hours a week (or previously have done so).
Interviews will be conducted via Zoom and are expected to take 30 minutes. Interviews aim to gain participants’ insights into whether people living with dementia should be able to access VAD and a possible framework that would allow this to occur safely.
