Employers often seek to limit what workers can do after they finish their current job, through non-compete clauses and other agreed post-employment restraints. New research by Professors Paula McDonald and Andrew Stewart from the QUT School of Law, together with Diane van den Broek and Catherine Kennon, sheds important light on the use and impact of these provisions, through a survey of small and medium sized enterprises, as well as interviews with hairdressers and IT professionals – two sectors where restraints are particularly common.
Paula and Andrew discussed some of their research findings in a recent article in The Conversation.
