Five tips of how to enjoy Orientation Week

How time flies! Do you know that your winter holiday is almost over? Do you know that Orientation Week (O-Week) is starting today? I believe that O-Week is always helpful and enjoyable for all QUT students, so let us explore some tips to make sure you can get the most out of Orientation Week.

Tip1: Manage you time and find your way around campus

I always have time-management as the first priority so I can have fun and do some work at the same time. My tips for your O-week is to download the QUT app. Make sure your download this app so you can explore the events that interests you and more importantly, find your way around campus!!! As for you studies, explore your class options for your degree through this app and view your class timetable on it.

Tip 2: Explore the student services

QUT offers students a variety of services to help with your university life. I recommend you to go to HiQ first,  they are super-easy to find since they are always wearing orange! HiQ will guide your through all the questions you might have through your degree, so it is better to get to know them ASAP. There are other services which have different specialities. For instance, Careers and Employment helps students with their career, STIMulate helps you with your maths, science and IT skill, and ISS (international students services) offers international students great help.

Tip 3: Visit all the stalls on Campus

Do you want to find clubs, projects, and social activities where you can meet other students and pursue your interests? O-week gives you the best chance to explore student clubs at QUT. All of them will have a stall on campus so you will be able to explore their activities, talk to some of the executives and get some awsome souvenirs. So don’t miss out this chance to prepare yourself for some fun activities throughout your coming semester.

Tip 4: Get to know QUTConnect

Do you want to involved with other students and make new friends through peer programs? Come and find out more about QUTConnect during O-Week. QUTConnect consists of many passionate Connectors, who are wearing a green or black “Connect shirt”  when they are helping people during Orientaiton. Talking to them is always the best and you should definately attend the Connect101 session where you can learn more about your faculty and tips about how to survive and thrive in uni.

Tip 5: Have fun and try $2 meals

QUT invites many emerging talent and artists to perform during O-Week ,and all you need to do is to come and enjoy! QUT would love to feature you in a live entertainment program during your lunchtime (it only costs you 2 dollars!!!).

Nicole is studying Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in Electrical Engineering but she cannot be defined as an engineer only. She is passionate about public speaking, socialising with people, and learning new skills. She loves taking photos at all the places she have visited and she hopes to share her stories through these photos and inspire her readers to experience cool things and create great memories while staying in Brisbane. She believes that her experience in Brisbane creates a better version of herself and she is keen to share her experience with you. If Nicole is not behind a camera, then she must be telling her stories somewhere.
