Drawing on our proven expertise in Data Science research, QUT has launched its new Bachelor of Data Science, the first of its kind in Queensland, with the first intake in semester 1 2021.
This exciting new offering specifically addresses the massive and escalating volume and complexity of data and the global need for business and government to understand and make effective use of it. The course provides students with the technical knowledge, analytical skills and translational communication expertise to enable rich data insights to be effectively conveyed and understood by specialist and non-specialised audiences alike and incorporated into high-level decision-making.
Graduates will possess an enviable array of critical skills and knowledge through:
- industry case studies and data sets
- the use of industry software applications and open-source tools
- industry-based projects
- opportunities to engage with industry speakers and leading data science researchers
Cloud Computing, Advanced Visualisation, Data and Web Analytics, Optimisation as well as Computational and Simulation Science are just part of what is undoubtedly one of QUT’s most exciting new offerings. This innovative course provides the ideal platform from which students will launch their career as data science professionals who are equipped to play an integral role in meeting the complex informational and business needs in our rapidly evolving world.
