The QUT Business School has added a new major, Financial Planning to the Bachelor of Business (BS05) and Bachelor of Business (BS08) program. This brings the total number of discipline areas for students to ten. A one year Graduate Diploma in Business is also offered for those already in the financial planning industry and who are required to obtain professional recognition to continue to practice in Australia.
Financial Planners provide individuals with advice regarding cash flow and liability management, retirement, investment, tax and estate planning, risk management and insurance planning. In Australia, a company providing financial planning services is required to be licensed with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC). Graduates who complete the financial planning major will satisfy the education requirements to become a financial planner under the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).
