Annabel from Singapore has her eyes set on her career

Annabel Kwok from Singapore, started her Bachelor of Vision Science in February 2017. She was recommended to study at QUT by her polytechnic friends and was awarded two years of advanced standing into the Bachelor course for completing her polytechnic Diploma, a great advantage. Annabel went straight into the third year, but she found it very easy to settle into the QUT community as the academics were very friendly, knowledgeable and are always prepared to help.

She found the people very inclusive and welcoming, and she developed some great friendships.  Currently, Annabel is undertaking a Master of Optometry, and is also doing work experience in the QUT Health Clinics once a week, where she sees real patients under the supervision of a professional optometrist. At the clinic, Annabel performs an entire eye check consisting of refraction, eye health, eye pressure and prescribing of lenses as needed. The clinic experience helps preparing students for their external placements the final year.

After she graduates Annabel’s goal is to become a professional optometrist and she like to acquire some work experience in Australia before going back to Singapore.
