The QUT Creative Industries Precinct Stage 2 (CIP 2) is projected to open in January 2016. CIP 2 will be a state of the art facility for teaching and research in the visual and performing arts. The facility combines a new six storey building with four re-purposed heritage buildings to contribute to urban renewal on the edge of the Brisbane CBD.
The facilities include specialist teaching and performance venues for dance, drama and music; sound recording studios; visual art and design studios; and informal social learning spaces for students. The integration of leading edge technology will enable innovative research and teaching, exploring the connections and boundaries between live performance and fast broadband distribution technologies as well as the integration of more traditional forms of visual arts with interactive multimedia design.
A “buzz of excitement” is starting to build around the new world class facilities as external partners and media visit the Precinct. Recent visitors were QUT media students who prepared these stories for QUT News.
