Australia and QUT- Always in Me

By Do Anh Tai, Vietnam

Dear friends, the land of Kangaroo is always new and there are many interesting things for us to explore no matter how many times we visit the beautiful country.

The story I want to tell you is my 2017 trip to the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane (QUT). I have visited Australia a few times to work but that was the longest stay with one month of experience at QUT. I attended a course for managers of Vietnamese universities on developing and renewing bachelor’s degree programs. The training program for Vietnamese universities within the framework of Aus4skills is funded by the Australian government. We have 20 people from Thai Nguyen University (from member units of TNU) and Tay Bac University.

A one-month experience at QUT has helped us to understand Australian universities and how they build and develop a training program. This was what we want to learn to apply to the conditions of Vietnamese universities. During our time here, we have met wonderful teachers such as Mr. Nelson Salangsang, Mr. Shaun Nykvist, Ms. Julian Hamilton, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Mr. Christopher Blundell and many other teachers who were amazing and enthusiastic. They introduced and supported us to familiarize ourselves with the construction and management of training programs, as well as quality management and new teaching methods. Moreover, the teachers also supported us to learn more about the universities in Australia through our multiple site visits in the region.

We learned many great methods from QUT and each of us after finishing the course chose to build personal projects for our school to apply the useful knowledge we’ve taken from the course. Personally, I have used the principles I learned to build high-quality training programs at the University of Economics and Business Administration, a member unit of Thai Nguyen University. This method of study was highly appreciated, and enrollment has increased since last year.

After the course, QUT teachers also continued supporting us in implementing our proposed projects and especially in building a network of cooperation with other Australian universities. This is a great opportunity for us in our university’s academic development.

During my time in Australia, I love the pleasant climate, wonderful people and beautiful scenery. I always look forward to coming back to QUT and Australia to reunite with our friends and meet amiable people with great working style.

Thank you, Australia and QUT for giving me such amazing feelings. Australia and QUT will always be in my heart.
