My name is Madeleine Glynn, I am studying Fine Arts (Film, Screen & New Media) and I have just completed my exchange semester at Regents University London in semester 2 of 2022.<\/p>\n
Participating in the Student Exchange program was an incredible experience and I highly recommend it to future students. Not only was it an enriching learning experience, but I got to travel and make so many friends from all over the world!<\/p>\n
One of the highlights of my exchange was the opportunity to immerse myself in the creative industry in London. Through my courses, I was able to connect with local creatives and attend some amazing events! I also found myself being presented with various opportunities related to my area of study through my host university\u2019s film department. I attended a week-long school trip to York for a renowned British short film festival Aesthetica,<\/em> I received valuable knowledge from my tutors many of whom have had careers in major British film and television companies, and most incredibly I was able to collaborate with the resident film students at Regents University which gave me opportunities to work on their senior short films.<\/p>\n Of course, another huge advantage of my exchange was that I had Europe at my doorstep! I did not travel during the semester as I had planned to travel before and after, but other friends of mine from America were jetting off every weekend! Pretty much every other Australian I met on my exchange had the same idea as me, we have travelled far so we are going to see as many places as possible! I also found that because I was around so many other exchange students during the semester, everyone had the same mentality of making the most of our time there, which made it an incredibly motivating environment!<\/p>\n All in all, completing a student exchange is a life-changing experience, I was able to travel and immerse in different cultures, which taught me independence and self-capability. There will be an unlimited amount of opportunities from an exchange semester which will most likely be an advantage to your future career! I have returned to QUT with an immense amount of motivation and passion for my final year of studies!<\/p>\n
