Although at times I struggled to feel my fingers, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">there was never a shortage of beer nor Danish pastry\u2019s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Despite the heightened economy within Denmark, beers were relatively cheap, and the beer culture was huge \u2013 you were a fool if you challenged a Dane to a drinking contest.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9400\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture2-1.jpg 451w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture2-1-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Although\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Denmark\u2019s bike riding culture is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">looked at as the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">main form of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">transportation within Copenhagen, it proved difficult on rainy days<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and therefore,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">metro\u2019s and buses were\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">easily accessible<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and affordable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Prior to my arrival in Copenhagen I signed myself up for the Student Exchange program within Copenhagen Business School (CBS) which is run by students at the University. Ultimately, this proved to be the major foundation for friendships, social events and activities. I can well and truly say that my exchange experience would not have been the same without my involvement in this program \u2013 it paved <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">my<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> way to experiencing Copenhagen like a local 20-year-old, and proved vital in the creation of friendships and slow detriment of my liver. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9407\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"508\" height=\"678\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture7.jpg 2067w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture7-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture7-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9409\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9409\" style=\"width: 505px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9409\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture5.jpg 2067w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture5-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture5-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture5-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9409\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ice Bar and social night in Copenhagen &#8211; Student Exchange program activity<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Studying in Copenhagen<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CBS<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">presents a\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wealth of opportunities\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to students, whether you are keen to explore further within your studies, join social sporting teams, infuse yourself within extra-curricular activities (such as the beer society), and\/or be part of the student exchange program \u2013 there are a number of viable chances to be included, and ample amount of opportunities to make a number of life-long friends. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At CBS I studied 3 subjects relating to my Business major field (marketing) \u2013 one subject being\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">double credit<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to ensure I was complet<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">he<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0required credit points for my exchange semester.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0All subjects were\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in English and classes\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">were relatively small meaning collaboration was important, teaching felt personalised, and it was easier to make friends. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I always felt comfortable within the university as support was easily accessible and help was always just around the corner.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture1-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9401 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"538\" height=\"717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture1-1.jpg 2067w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture1-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture1-1-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h4><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Accommodation<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Accommodation in Copenhagen proved to be the biggest<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hurdle within the student exchange process. Due to the fact that Copenhagen Business School (and Copenhagen in general) was an extremely popular destination for exchange students from across the globe, securing a spot was difficult. After the application I didn\u2019t receive accommodation on campus and therefore had to expand my horizons and look at other options. Luckily the CBS accommodation team were extremely helpful and presented me <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a number of different options that included shared houses or accommodation\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">at other off-campus dormitories. Luckily enough I was secured a room at a large dormitory\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">called<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u2018Basecamp Copenhagen\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">that was situat<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in the city centre of Copenhagen. I could not have been more thrilled with the location and I was able to meet a number of people from other universities across Copenhagen, whilst still seeing my new friends from CBS.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9424\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9424\" style=\"width: 502px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9424\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"669\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture12.jpg 2067w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture12-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture12-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 502px) 100vw, 502px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9424\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My dormitory view in Copenhagen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Travelling<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Being of German descent and possessing the expensive trait of the travel bug, travelling during my semester abroad was an obvious\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">option. During my stay abroad I visited Singapore, Germany, Sweden and the Czech Republic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0with the new friends I had made on exchange<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Unfortunately, due to the unexpected arrival of COVID-19, travel from March 2020 onwards was prohibited and I made the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">controversial decision to remain in Denmark<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">under lockdown,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to finish my exchange semester<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as I felt safe and supported by not only CBS but QUT Global.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9405\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9405\" style=\"width: 497px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture4-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9405\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2020\/11\/Picture4-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"661\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9405\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prague<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ultimately, my student experience abroad gifted me with a number of fruitful experiences and memories that I will cherish throughout my life.
