Class registration and department registration is a tedious paper-based process where you run around to every department giving copies of the same form and collecting stamps no one seems to understand! This is something that I hope they will be improving in the coming semesters.<\/p>\n<p>Once settled into NCKU, I was offered some really amazing academic opportunities from the weekly College of Planning and Design lectures, the Industrial Design and Architecture final presentation\/graduation exhibitions and the Aerospace research pathways lecture weekly series. At the same time there were also fun activities: attending the dragon boat festival, going to all-you-can-eat barbeque (its near the canal in the West District &#8211; you must go!) and experiencing the local alleys and markets scattered throughout Tainan.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/qut-exchange-students\/files\/2019\/08\/Sean.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7742\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/qut-exchange-students\/files\/2019\/08\/Sean.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/Sean.jpg 960w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/Sean-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/Sean-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/Sean-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of the ICID (Creative Industries) department, I joined two team projects with local and international students, organised and hosted the <a href=\"http:\/\/news-en.secr.ncku.edu.tw\/p\/404-1038-193895.php?Lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">POINTS Data Visualisation Exhibition in April 2019<\/a>, attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/2019icpd.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Conference of Planning and Design<\/a> at NCKU and was part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comp.hkbu.edu.hk\/designworkshop\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hong Kong-Tainan Design Thinking Workshop<\/a> as part of Professor Yang\u2019s annual university study tour.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the student societies at NCKU are numerous and so interesting! While many of them will be in Chinese, they all seemed willing to find someone who could Chinese-English as their way through to teaching you how to join in. Some really memorable clubs for me were the Architecture Society (C-Hub caf\u00e9!!), the MAGI CLUB \u2013 NCKU\u2019s maker club for students who want to build stuff for fun and the NCKU Pottery Club who were all so generous letting us get involved and helping us out when we were struggling.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/qut-exchange-students\/files\/2019\/08\/NCKU.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7743\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/qut-exchange-students\/files\/2019\/08\/NCKU.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/NCKU.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/NCKU-300x112.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2019\/08\/NCKU-500x186.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Societies:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MagiTaiwan\/?ref=br_rs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MAGI Club \u2013 NCKU Maker\u2019s Club<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NCKU.pottery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NCKU Pottery Club<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/chub.cafe\/?__tn__=%2Cd%3C-R&amp;eid=ARDXYOEDDrUX96pQ4pF2PfYR_-Ge-dW58emSqinGwzlNa7C69KjfKiKEDKVAeUhvxdszCHKJlvI1me6h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">C-Hub Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you Tainan and thank you NCKU for giving me such an awesome exchange journey, I hope to see you soon!<\/p>\n<p>Sean&#8217;s experience was funded by the Australian Government&#8217;s 2019 New Colombo Plan.
