Exchange is honestly going to be the best decision you ever
\nmake. If you\u2019re going to the Catholique Universitie de Lille,
\nthen there are a few simple things that can help you adjust
\nto life in France.<\/p>\n

Catholique Universitie de Lille<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

My suggestion, if you want to be close to campus, is to
\ndefinitely stay in the AEU student housing. We don\u2019t really
\nhave the opportunity to be completely immersed in student
\nlife this way in Brisbane, so it\u2019s a very unique experience.
\nMore importantly, it\u2019s also where you\u2019ll make most of
\nyour friends, go to fun events sponsored by the AEU
\nand be involved in a lot of school activities. Plus you
\nget free breakfast!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>
Free breaky!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The way the schooling system works is a lot like the
\nAustralian high school, you\u2019ll be at class 5 days a
\nweek and you\u2019ll have a lot of subjects to do. But
\nluckily, these subjects will not be as difficult as the four units we do at QUT.
\nSo never fear, you\u2019ll have plenty of time to have fun!
\nThere are a lot of multicultural projects that you can be involved in such as
\nsport, dancing and photography. My favorite was the gastronomy project, where
\nyou can get together with a group of French and
\nother exchange students, and essentially just eat!
\nYou get to enjoy allot of foreign cuisines, and
\nlearn about culture and traditions from other
\nnationalities.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>
\nThere are also a lot of sport teams you can join,
\nsuch as basketball, handball and badminton. I
\nstrongly suggest that you get involved in as many of
\nthese projects and teams as possible because that\u2019s
\nwhere you\u2019ll get your best experiences!
\nIt\u2019s also a smart idea to familiarize yourself with the
\npublic transport systems, as that is what you will be
\nprimarily using to get around. The metro and bus
\nsystems are pretty cheap, but the train gets very
\nexpensive if you have to use it last minute.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Some funky facts about France:<\/strong>
\n– There are entire isles dedicated to cheese and wines
\n– You have to eat the baguettes in one day or else they\u2019ll go off
\n– Classes usually start at 8am
\n– It rains constantly (and for some reason only tourists use umbrellas)
\n– If you\u2019re there during the winter, bring a coat because it\u2019s going to get
\nREALLY cold
\n– Everything is closed on Sundays. EVERYTHING.
\n– You won\u2019t need to buy books, everything is either
\nemailed to you or given in class (like
\nhighschool)
\n– Familiarized yourself with bisous, I guarantee
\nyour going to have strangers come up to you
\nexpecting it
\n– If someone invites you over for lunch or dinner, expect it to take at
\nleast 3 hours minimum
\n– If you need something done, by any French association, double the
\ntime you\u2019d expect it to take, then add an extra 2 weeks
\n– Be wary of the smelly cheese<\/p>\n

But the most important thing to remember is:
