My final exams<\/strong> are over<\/strong>, Bishop\u2019s<\/strong> is closing<\/strong> for the holidays<\/strong> and by now the majority of my wardrobe is purple<\/strong>, so I guess that means my time here as a student<\/strong> is up!<\/p>\n

<\/a>Applying to go on exchange<\/strong> and choosing Bishop\u2019s<\/strong> has been the best decision I\u2019ve ever made. So I want to take a moment to say to anyone who might be considering going on an exchange (or even if you\u2019re not), do it!<\/strong> There are so many amazing<\/strong> places<\/strong> out there, choose somewhere<\/strong> you\u2019ve always wanted<\/strong> to go or somewhere that looks cool<\/strong> to you and just go for it. Get that second job and start saving<\/strong>, work hard for a\u00a0scholarship<\/strong>\u00a0that can get you there, plan a budget<\/strong> that works for you, boost your grades<\/strong> and take the time to put together a great application<\/strong> – whatever it is you can do to make it happen, if you can do it, I guarantee it\u2019ll be worth it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/a>My advice<\/strong> once you get there? Immerse<\/strong> yourself in the university life<\/strong>, embrace<\/strong> the foreign culture<\/strong>, stay in contact<\/strong> with family and friends<\/strong> back home<\/strong>, study <\/strong>(not too much! but enough to pass), make new friends<\/strong>, party<\/strong>, travel<\/strong> and just have fun with it \u2013 it really is a once in a lifetime<\/strong> opportunity.<\/p>\n

What I love<\/strong> about the student exchange program<\/strong> is that it\u2019s more than just travelling<\/strong> and more than just studying<\/strong>. I got the chance to live<\/strong> in another country for the first time, have the \u2018college experience\u2019<\/strong>, be the \u2018foreign exchange student\u2019<\/strong>, and meet people<\/strong> and learn things<\/strong> I wouldn\u2019t have had the chance to otherwise. If you\u2019re experience is anything like mine, you\u2019ll have the time your life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I also just want to take a second to mention, it\u2019s ‘pass or fail’<\/strong>. Okay, I\u2019ll leave it at that.<\/p>\n

So after all this, if you\u2019re wondering why I\u2019m not an absolute mess<\/strong> right now about having to leave<\/strong>, because I\u2019m so in love<\/strong> with this place<\/strong> and the people<\/strong> in it, I\u2019ll be returning<\/strong> for a visit<\/strong> to Bishop\u2019s in January to say my goodbyes<\/strong> before I fly back home<\/strong> to Australia<\/strong>. Until then – I might not be an exchange student<\/strong> anymore but that doesn\u2019t mean the adventure<\/strong> is over yet! I came all this way, so now it\u2019s time to travel!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
