My semester at Bishop\u2019s University<\/strong>\u00a0is now well under way and I couldn\u2019t be happier about it!<\/p>\n

\"field<\/a>It all began with Move-In Day<\/strong> where I was greeted by friendly students, happy to help carry my bags\u00a0to the top floor of the residence<\/strong> building where I\u2019m living. Here I have a room to myself which comes with a single bed, dresser, desk, chair, bedside table, closet, and sink, as well as a bathroom that I share with my roommate<\/strong> next door.<\/p>\n

\"firstAfter moving in, the university organised some events and activities to get to know the other students. Here\u00a0I met group of friends who I spent the rest of the day with which meant going to the first football game<\/strong> of the season (or in my case, my first Canadian football game ever), then hanging out in one of the apartment style residences, before heading out to a party<\/strong> in a house occupied\u00a0by a group of upper year students.<\/p>\n

The following day marked the beginning of O-Week<\/strong> also known here as Frosh Week<\/strong>. This meant choosing our teams<\/strong> for the week. At Bishop\u2019s this was not just a spontaneous decision. We’d been introduced to the different teams and leaders over social media in the weeks leading up. We were then encouraged to speak to every team before making a decision to join the one that best suited what we wanted to get out of Frosh Week. Every team had a name which combined the theme of the week (School of Rock)<\/strong> with the university. The team I chose was \u2018Rich Homie Gaiters\u2019<\/strong> (the students and sports teams here are called \u2018Gaiters\u2019<\/strong>), and I\u2019m so glad I did! I had an absolute ball with this team, made some great friends and met some incredible people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"field<\/a>Once the teams were picked, Bishop\u2019s didn\u2019t slow down the whole week. The week consisted of opening and closing ceremonies<\/strong>, parties<\/strong> every night, crazy challenges<\/strong> to win points for your teams, concerts<\/strong>, a scavenger hunt<\/strong> across town, a glow-in-the-dark<\/strong> run, a dance battle<\/strong>, singing the school song<\/strong> to the principle outside his house one night, seminars<\/strong>, panels<\/strong>, tours<\/strong>, movie<\/strong> night, play auditions<\/strong>, games<\/strong> and much more!<\/p>\n

\"massawippi<\/a>As if there wasn\u2019t enough excitement<\/strong> already, I got to celebrate<\/strong> my birthday<\/strong> during Frosh Week! Before coming to Bishop\u2019s I expected that with having just moved to a new country<\/strong>, I wouldn\u2019t \"scavengerknow anyone well enough to properly celebrate it this year. However, I was so wrong. My lovely\u00a0new group of friends decided to surprise<\/strong> me with a personalised cake<\/strong> they had made that day, and I was sung ‘Happy Birthday’<\/strong>\u00a0to by the entire Frosh Week student body, before we partied<\/strong> on that night.<\/p>\n

Frosh Week has been one of the\u00a0most fun-filled<\/strong> weeks<\/strong> of my life<\/strong>\u00a0and even though it’s now over, my life at Bishop’s is just beginning<\/strong>.\"remember<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
