I chose to study abroad as I wanted to experience living overseas, meeting new people from different cultures, and step out of my comfort zone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some Travel Tips <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most Uni accommodation has a marketplace to buy second hand items for your room, so save money.<\/li>\n<li>For cycling rent a bike through Swapfiets<\/li>\n<li>Learn some basic Danish phrases, but don\u2019t worry about the language barrier Danes speak great English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11513\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2859-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2859-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2859-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2859-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2859-1-1536x2048.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Impression of Copenhagen <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>When I first arrived, it was a bit of a shock to swap the Australian summer for the freezing Danish winter. I hopped off the plane it was raining, windy and cold. However, you quickly learn to embrace the different weather with the cosy, warm, hygge vibes throughout the city. The Danish architecture is colourful, green and surrounded by canals making for great bike rides around the city.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11514\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_3944-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_3944-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_3944-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_3944-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_3944-1536x2048.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Living in Copenhagen <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was lucky to live 5 minutes from South Campus where all my classes were held. Here I got to meet so many different people from Ireland, England, Germany, Canada and many other places. Everyone was super friendly which made it very easy to make friends. One thing Copenhagen is known for is biking. I loved biking around the city trying new bakeries and coffee places with friends. The best part was biking over to the outdoor food market Reffen.<\/p>\n<p>Best Copenhagen Spots<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hanns Coffee for a Danish breakfast and coffee<\/li>\n<li>Lille Bakery for brunch<\/li>\n<li>Christianshavn for shopping<\/li>\n<li>La Banchina and Islands Brygge for swimming<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11512\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2922-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2922-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2922-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2922-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/gone-global\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_2922-1536x2048.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Travelling while on Exchange <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>One of the best parts about living in Copenhagen was being so close to all the other amazing European countries. I got to explore heaps of destinations like Stockholm, Amsterdam, Budapest, and Dubrovnik. I recommend planning ahead and travel to as many places as you can.
