Semester 2, 2024<\/h4>\n

Bachelor of Justice\/Bachelor of Laws (honours)<\/h4>\n

Hi, my name is Georgia I\u2019m a Bachelor of Justice\/Bachelor of Laws (honours) student at QUT and have just returned home from the studying in the United Kingdom at City, University of London in Semester 2 2024. The university is located in central London so there is always something to do before or after class and being located so close to Europe the weekend and midsemester trips options are endless. Overall, I had a great time and would recommend an exchange semester to anyone!<\/p>\n

Accommodation <\/strong><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t able to get the university provided accommodation, so I had to get private accommodation that was a bit further out from London, so the cost wasn\u2019t as high. When choosing accommodation, I would just make sure there is a tube station nearby that makes getting around London very easy.\u00a0 I would also highly recommend trying to get accommodation where you know other students from your university will be staying as it makes making friends and adjusting to the new city a lot easier as you have people in the same situation as you.<\/p>\n

Travel <\/strong><\/p>\n

I would highly recommend getting a railcard if you intend on travelling as you can get discounted train tickets and also if you link it to your oyster card you can get 1\/3 off the fare price on the tube and buses at off-peak times and those TFL charges do add up quickly so saving money wherever you can definitely helps.<\/p>\n

Coursework <\/strong><\/p>\n

I would highly recommend enrolling in the subjects performing arts in London and historic London if your study plan allows it. The performing arts subject the university takes you to see different shows over the course of the semester ranging from the ballet to a musical and the historic arts subject allows you to explore the sights of London with a tour guide giving you so much more information than if you went by yourself. As they are specifically for exchange students it is a very easy way to meet other exchange students and make friends.<\/p>\n

The coursework is very similar to QUT as you often will have 2 pieces of assessment due one mid semester and then one at the end. The pass rate is also 40% so the helps if you intend on travelling a lot. Being an exchange student in semester 2 my classes ended at the beginning of December along with any exams but if you have assignments, they will usually be due in mid-January and they are usually worth 70%. Try and get them done before you finish classes or just after as you probably won\u2019t want to have to start uni work again after having 3-4 weeks off classes as you will most likely be travelling or be back home.<\/p>\n
