The semester was s a nice blend of cultural immersion and architectural exploration making it an unforgettable chapter in my education.<\/p>\n<h4>Study Life<\/h4>\n<p>The baroque streets of Torino were the perfect backdrop for this course. It was a privilege to learn under professors who were passionate about preserving and celebrating the architectural heritage of Italy. I had the opportunity to engage in hands-on projects that involved restoration and adaptive reuse of historic buildings. I developed my technical skills and also grew an appreciation for the role of architecture in preserving cultural legacies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Urban Geography was an eye-opening course that broadened my perspective on urban planning and design. Torino&#8217;s unique urban fabric, with its blend of historic and industrial elements, was the perfect setting to conceptually explore what defines a city. It was fascinating to witness the city&#8217;s ongoing transformation, blending the old with the new in a harmonious way.<\/li>\n<li>Design for Living was a course that allowed me to explore innovative and sustainable architectural solutions to contemporary challenges related to the Italian prison system. Italy&#8217;s commitment to adaptive re-use and sustainable design inspired me to think critically about how architecture can address societal needs for under-represented social groups.<\/li>\n<li>Interior Design: History and Theory explored the journey through the history of Italian &amp; European Architecture, and had the most meaningful impact on developing my ethos as a designer. The rich historical context of Italy, and its influence over global architecture, made this course particularly engaging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Living in Torino<\/h4>\n<p>Living in Torino provided countless opportunities for personal growth and cultural immersion. The city&#8217;s warm and welcoming atmosphere made it easy to connect with locals and fellow international students. Exploring Torino&#8217;s culinary delights, from traditional trattorias to sunset Aperol\u2019s in the park, is something I will always cherish.<\/p>\n<p>My semester in Torino has broadened my horizons and deepened my passion for architecture. I came home with a greater appreciation for the interplay between history, culture, and design in shaping the built environment. My experience will undoubtedly influence my future work as an architect.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, my exchange in Italy left me with lasting memories and a sense of gratitude. It enriched my academic journey and also my understanding of the world and my place within it.
