He studies the ways in which US Presidents have made critical decisions to use military force across key instances of humanitarian atrocities, and responses to terrorism. His book\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bristoluniversitypress.co.uk\/ideas-and-the-use-of-force-in-american-foreign-policy\"><strong>\u201cIdeas and the Use of Force in American Foreign Policy \u2013 Presidential Decision-Making in a Post-Cold War World\u201d<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was published in November 2021 with Bristol University Press. In it, he develops a theoretical framework utilising discursive institutionalist theory to analyse and understand the confounding variation in the implementation of the use of force in foreign interventions. He has also published in the journals\u00a0<i>Contemporary Politics<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>International Relations\u00a0<\/i>on the foreign policy decision-making of Presidents Clinton and Obama.
