From Australia, <strong>Denise Buiten <\/strong>and<strong> Raffaella Cresciani<\/strong> examine Australian news reporting of family murder\u2013suicide involving disabled victims to explore news framings <em>of <\/em>violence <em>as<\/em> violence.\u00a0 <strong>Ruth McCausland <\/strong>and<strong> Eileen Baldry<\/strong> propose a conceptual framework of the social determinants in efforts to reduce the criminalisation and incarceration of targeted and disadvantaged groups. McCausland and Baldry\u2019s article was published earlier this year \u201cOnline First\u201d to coincide with an article they published in The Conversation (April 17) <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/the-social-determinants-of-justice-8-factors-that-increase-your-risk-of-imprisonment-203661\"><em>The social determinants of justice: 8 factors that increase your risk of\u00a0imprisonment<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Green criminology is the topic of two articles: <strong>Montserrat Abad Castelos<\/strong> considers those involved in investigating the environmental effects of the Iraqi conflict (2014\u201317), as well as the environmental crimes deliberately committed by Daesh, and how this investigation has been conducted. <strong>Michael J Lynch<\/strong> explores the use of writs of habeas corpus for animals promoted by Steven Wise and the Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) in the US.<\/p>\n<p>As well,<strong> Steven Kohm <\/strong>reviews <em>Just One Rain Away: The Ethnography of River-City Flood Control <\/em>by <strong>Stephanie C Kane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy<\/em>\u00a0is an open access, peer reviewed journal that seeks to publish critical research about common challenges confronting criminal justice systems around the world.
