The prize was awarded for the best submissions received for the first assessment in the unit (a 1,000-word critique of a justice-related film, novel or TV series).<\/p>\n<p>Five students were shortlisted for the <span data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">prize<\/span>: Charley Adames, Declan Hayes, Emma Jones, Alexia Kimmich, and Georgia McGovern.<\/p>\n<p>The shortlisted entries were judged by Head of School Professor John Scott and <span data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">JSB287<\/span> Unit Co-ordinator Dr Dean Biron.<\/p>\n<p>The winning entries chosen were those of <strong>Alexia Kimmich<\/strong> and<strong> Emma Jones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can read Alexia&#8217;s paper <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/crime-and-justice-research-centre\/files\/2023\/03\/Alexia-Kimmich-JSB127.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> and Emma&#8217;s paper <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/crime-and-justice-research-centre\/files\/2023\/03\/Emma-Jones.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The co-winners will each receive a certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to all involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Image from L to R &#8211; Dr Dean Biron, Emma Jones, Prof John Scott) This summer, QUT School of Justice unit Crime in Popular Culture (JSB287) featured the second Crime in Popular Culture Writing Prize.
