{"id":5346,"date":"2022-12-01T09:00:14","date_gmt":"2022-11-30T23:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/crime-and-justice-research-centre\/?p=5346"},"modified":"2022-11-29T13:28:08","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T03:28:08","slug":"new-issue-international-journal-for-crime-justice-and-social-democracy-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qut.edu.au\/crime-and-justice-research-centre\/2022\/12\/01\/new-issue-international-journal-for-crime-justice-and-social-democracy-6\/","title":{"rendered":"New Issue:  International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new issue of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crimejusticejournal.com\/issue\/view\/119\"><em>International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy\u00a0<\/em><\/a> has been published.<\/p>\n<p>This general issue publishes an eclectic mix of criminology research.\u00a0 Included in the issue, <strong>George Dertadian<\/strong> and <strong>Stephen Tomsen<\/strong> provide evidence of what constitutes the broader sense of security and safety experienced by (male) clients of the Medically Supervised Injecting Centre in Sydney, Australia. <strong>Bianca Fileborn, Elena Cama <\/strong>and<strong> Alison Young<\/strong> explore perceptions of safety when using taxi and rideshare services, including the gendered nature of safety. <strong>Matthew Mitchell<\/strong> and co-authors detail survey responses from trans and gender diverse (TGD) people with lived experience of criminalisation and lawyers with experience representing TGD clients. <strong>Jack Beetson, Pat Anderson<\/strong> and colleagues demonstrate the beneficial impacts of a First Nations community-controlled adult literacy campaign in six rural and remote communities in New South Wales, Australia. Other articles focus on cybercrime and cybersecurity and the experience of abortion patients and their healthcare providers during a COVID-19 lockdown in South Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Policing is the topic of two articles: <strong>Wendell C. Wallace <\/strong>and <strong>Malisa Neptune-Figaro<\/strong> provide insights into the motivations for entering policing in Jamaica and,<strong> Anqi Shen <\/strong>and<strong> Dorothy Moses Schulz<\/strong> use a comparative lens to explore the trajectory of women\u2019s advancement in policing in China and the United States (comparisons of Global North and South).<\/p>\n<p>As well,<strong> Cristina Zackseski, Welliton Caixeta Maciel and Vin\u00edcius de Souza Assump\u00e7\u00e3o <\/strong>review <em>Portable Prisons: Electronic Monitoring and the Creation of Carceral Territory <\/em>by James Gacek.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy<\/em>\u00a0is an open access, peer reviewed journal that seeks to publish critical research about common challenges confronting criminal justice systems around the world.
