The day was previously named Bravehearts White Balloon Day.<\/p>\n<p>This annual awareness and giving day is held during\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.napcan.org.au%2F&amp;data=05%7C01%7CzHermans%40bravehearts.org.au%7C621d588f25d1438745c008da58c659c2%7C1b9efed219ce455aa6bdbea65f75f49f%7C0%7C0%7C637919906171721036%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=XTI6ylRUomohbU62%2BNfuqHgCvxqr%2BNIki5LlCpD%2B5kA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">National Child Protection Week<\/a>\u00a0each year. The day started as White Balloon Day back in 1997. However, as times and environmental concerns have evolved, the need to change the name of the day was apparent in order to best represent the survivors of child sexual abuse now.<\/p>\n<p>The essence of the day remains the same as Bravehearts White Balloon Day. Bravehearts Day continues the legacy of White Balloon Day, which is credited for breaking the silence around child sexual abuse and creating a cultural shift in how Australians understand and respond to child sexual abuse and survivors of this crime.<\/p>\n<p>Bravehearts Day 2022 is on Friday 9 September.
