QUT Centre for Justice researchers have had some notable achievements over the past week.<\/p>\n

Dr Katie Woolaston<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dr Katie Woolaston<\/a>\u00a0 from the School of Law was awarded the WPSA Clay Morgan Award for Best Book in Environmental Political Theory<\/a>.\u00a0 Katie’s book, Ecological Vulnerability: The Law and Governance of Human\u2013Wildlife Relationships<\/em><\/a>\u00a0examines human-wildlife conflict as a primary contributor to wildlife extinction and a manifestation of the destructive relationship that people have with wildlife.<\/p>\n

Katie has also been quoted in media this week, commenting on the “five virus families most likely to cause the next pandemic.” <\/a>according to a new CSIRO report, Strengthening Australia\u2019s Pandemic Preparedness<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Associate Professor Michael Flood<\/strong><\/p>\n

Associate Professor Michael Flood contributed to three community and practitioner engagement activities in the last two weeks of August. He provided a keynote address, \u201cMen Make a Difference: Men\u2019s positive roles in building respectful workplaces\u201d<\/strong> to a symposium at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Domestic and Family Violence \u2013 Men Ending Violence: Engaging<\/em> eliminating and preventing domestic and family violence<\/em> (August 23-26).<\/p>\n

Michael provided six hours of professional development to teachers and student welfare staff at the Brisbane Grammar School, in collaboration with Dr Claire Moran, under the banner \u201cPromoting Healthy Masculinities among Boys and Young Men in Schools\u201d, over August 17-31.
