QUT Centre for Justice member, Dr Helen Berents and PhD student Dr Ingrid Valladares have recently published an article in Australian Institute of International Affairs titled, “Seeing ‘Youth’ Issues as Shared Issues.”<\/strong><\/p>\n Youth activism is a global phenomenon and is not confined to one single issue. Nor is it confined to impacting youth, but it is young people who are making a stand for the betterment of all.<\/strong><\/p>\n In the weeks leading up to Australia\u2019s recent federal election, young Australians made it very clear that climate change and cost of living topped the list of\u00a0the issues of most concern<\/a>\u00a0to them. This is on top of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that were\u00a0most deeply felt<\/a>\u00a0by younger demographics, and rising frustrations amongst youth with\u00a0political discourse<\/a>\u00a0on sexism and gender violence.<\/p>\n Ingrid Valladares<\/a>\u00a0is a PhD Candidate affiliated with the Centre for Justice at the Queensland University of Technology.\u00a0\u00a0She holds Bachelors degrees in Economics and in Education from Ecuador and France, and a Masters of International Relations from the University of Queensland. Her research explores the role of intergenerational dialogue in youth-led social movements, youth\u2019s political agency and participation, especially in Latin America.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
