To mark the\u00a0<a class=\"acton-tabs-link-processed\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/observances\/ending-violence-against-women-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women<\/a>, this webinar will discuss some of the most innovative institutional responses that are being developed in Australia and in Argentina.<\/p>\n<div><strong>Speakers:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>Professor Kerry Carrington\u00a0<\/strong>(QUT)\u00a0is a Research Professor in the Centre for Justice\u00a0Queensland University of Technology, and a Fellow of the Academy of\u00a0Social Sciences, Australia. She is leading an\u00a0<a class=\"acton-tabs-link-processed\" href=\"https:\/\/research.qut.edu.au\/pgv\/\">ARC Discovery Project<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0a multi-lingual research team, including partner investigator Professor\u00a0M\u00e1ximo Sozzo from the Facultad de Jur\u00eddicas y Sociales Universidad\u00a0Nacional de Litoral, Santa Fe, Argentina and QUT PhD student Maria Puyol\u00a0to study how women-led victim centred police stations in the Province of\u00a0Buenos Aries, Argentina, emerged in the 1980s, and have proliferated\u00a0since 2004, to respond to and prevent gender violence. The second stage\u00a0of their research has investigated what Australia and other countries in\u00a0the world can learn from these unique innovations to improve their own\u00a0responses to the prevention of gender violence.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Dr Chay Brown<\/strong>\u00a0(ANU) researches the interactions between the criminal legal system and Aboriginal women experiencing violence, and will speak about a newly created specialist family violence court in Alice Springs (Northern Territory).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Associate Professor Miranda Forsyth<\/strong>\u00a0(ANU) has expertise in both Australia and the Pacific, and will present on restorative justice and its use as a pathway to justice for survivors of sexual assault.<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"nounderline\"><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presented by The Embassy of Argentina, The Australian National Centre for Latin American Studies (ANCLAS) and the ANU Gender Institute, a webinar is being held Thursday 25 November 2021 from 9.00am &#8211; 10.15am.
