International Journal of Crime, Justice and Social Democracy<\/strong><\/p>\n A new issue of\u00a0International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy<\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/a>has been published.\u00a0 This second issue for 2020 features diverse articles from scholars in Canada, US, UK, PNG, Vietnam, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago and Australia.<\/p>\n Included in this issue:<\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Sharynne<\/span> Hamilton<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and co-authors (mainly from the Telethon Kids Institute in Western Australia) investigate fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) and report on a qualitative study that used a \u2018social yarning\u2019 approach for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in Australian youth detention centres.\u00a0 \u00a0The global provenance of Australian Islamophobia in the light of New Zealand\u2019s 2019 Christchurch massacre is discussed by Scott Poynting<\/strong><\/a><\/span>,<\/strong> while Ariel Yap and Shih Joo Tan<\/strong><\/a><\/span> focus on Singapore\u2019s death penalty regime and associated official discourse that seeks to justify state power to exercise such penalties. Michelle Carrigan <\/strong>and<\/span> Myrna Dawson<\/span><\/strong><\/a> look at Femicide legislation in Latin America and assess concepts that are taken for granted within policies to uncover what has been silenced through problem representations.<\/p>\n Policing and policy are the topics of several articles:\u00a0 Transnational Crime and its Trends in the Southeast Asian Region: An Overall Analysis in Vietnam<\/em>, Hai Thanh\u00a0<\/span>Lung<\/b><\/span><\/b><\/a>; and; The Politics of Crime and Militarised Policing in Brazil<\/em>, Roxana Pessoa Cavalcanti and Jeff Garmany. <\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0 <\/strong>Roxana\u2019s recent book A Southern Criminology of Violence, Youth and Policing: Governing Insecurity in Urban Brazil <\/em>(2020) is also reviewed in this issue by Omar Khan<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Additionally, David Brown<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>presents a \u2018Review Essay\u2019 on the recent publication Pervasive Punishment<\/em>\u00a0by Fergus McNeill (2019).
