Associate Professor\u00a0Molly Dragiewicz<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0Crime and Justice\u00a0Research Centre <\/a>at\u00a0Queensland University of Technology<\/a>\u00a0will speak at the II European Conference on Domestic Violence<\/a> in Porto, Portugal on 8 September\u00a02017.<\/p>\n

Dragiewicz is presenting her interdisciplinary, internationally comparative research on claims and beliefs about “parental alienation” in Canada and Australia with colleagues\u00a0Simon LaPierre<\/a>, and Elizabeth Sheehy<\/a>\u00a0from University\u00a0of Ottawa <\/a>and\u00a0Isabelle C\u00f4t\u00e9<\/a>, a doctoral candidate from Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, Canada.<\/p>\n

Dragiewicz organised a symposium session on\u00a0Children and domestic violence: Risks and responses<\/em> to bring together researchers from four countries to discuss developments in this important area.<\/p>\n

Following the success of the\u00a0I European Conference on Domestic Violence<\/a>, held in Belfast in 2015, the II European Conference on Domestic Violence will be held from 6th<\/sup>\u00a0to 9th<\/sup>\u00a0September 2017 at FPCEUP – Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto, in Porto, Portugal. The organization of this Conference is the result of a collaboration between FPCEUP,\u00a0UMAR – Women\u2019s Association Alternative and Response<\/a>, and\u00a0APAV – Portuguese Association for Victims Support<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goals of the conference<\/p>\n

The II European Conference on Domestic Violence will bring together researchers, academics, doctoral students, practitioners, and policy makers, and is designed to:<\/p>\n

  1. Connect research and intervention within the field of domestic violence<\/li>\n
  2. Exchange knowledge, good practices and methodologies which best contribute to the protection of victims and to the eradication of domestic and gender violence<\/li>\n
  3. Share scientific results which inform the construction of social and legal policies regarding domestic and gender violence<\/li>\n
  4. Promote networking among professionals and experts in this field<\/li>\n
